Norfolk: The First Four CenturiesPublished in 1994, this outstanding reference by Thomas C. Parramore, professor emeritus at Meredith College, with Peter C. Stewart, former profressor of history at Old Dominion University, and Tommy L. Bogger, professor and university archivist at Norfolk State University, is readily available in local bookstores and libraries.

Norfolk: Historic Southern Port

Norfolk: Historic Southern PortFirst published in 1931, author Thomas J. Wertenbaker of Princeton University was working on a second edition before ill health forced him to abandon the task. The second edition was completed at Professor Wertenbaker's request by Marvin W. Schlegel of Longwood College, and published in 1962. No longer in print, this book can frequently be found in used book stores, as well as the public libraries.
