The Tucker Endowment

In addition to membership dues, donors may also make a special contribution to support the Norfolk Historical Society's education, restoration, and preservation programs.

Quote praising George Tucker by Former Norfolk Mayor Roy MartinOne such project is the George Holbert Tucker Endowment, established in 2001 to support an annual high school essay contest held in Mr. Tucker's name.

As a permanent endowment, the George Holbert Tucker Endowment will provide an ongoing source of revenue to support the costs associated with running the contest (award prizes and trophies, printing expenses, etc.). As the Tucker Endowment grows, this fund will also allow the Norfolk Historical Society to underwrite other educational programs that will pay tribute to a writer and scholar who has done so much to advance the study of Norfolk's history.

To make a contribution to the Tucker Endowment, make your check payable to the "Norfolk Historical Society/Tucker Endowment" and send it to:
